Even Tesla boss Elon Musk commented on the case: AfD politician Marie-Thérèse Kaiser was convicted of hate crime on Tuesday. She had referred to statistics showing a connection between migration and gang rape. Specifically, on the platform "X", she had criticized Hamburg's SPD mayor Peter Tschentscher's call for the "unbureaucratic admission" of local staff of a police project in Afghanistan co-financed by Germany. She therefore believes that freedom of expression in Germany is in danger. And the judiciary is not independent either - Kaiser speaks of a "threat to the rule of law".
